July 3, 2008: "Marines to stay longer in southern Afganistan"

Marines to stay longer in southern Afghanistan

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Some 2,200 U.S. Marines battling insurgents in southern Afghanistan have had their tour of duty extended by 30 days, U.S. officials said on Thursday.

Amongst all of the tragic news that comes out of Iraq, this article adds insult to injury. Think of how long thirty days is. For you and I this may not be a long time. But for these 2,200 soldiers and their families, this months a a lifetime longer, this month is 30 more tears, 30 more nights sleeping alone, thirty more night of desperate prayers.
Currently there are around 145,000 troops in Iraq alone. That last statement speaks volumes. As a nation we are at war. And more importantly I any nation, no matter what the circumstance, must support their country especially in times of war. Many people have given our president a hard time about this war. The government does need to here the people's opinion. But, the most important thing now is to support our troops.

I have never seen a bumper sticker that said "Support Our War." But I have seen many bumper stickers saying, "Support Our Troops." The troops are what really matter.

Thank you Andrew Gray and Yahoo News.
