July 23, 2008: "California gay marriage ban vote to proceed"

California gay marriage ban vote to proceed

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - California voters will have the chance to vote in November on whether to end gay marriage after the state's top court declined on Wednesday to remove an initiative on the issue from the ballot.

After the courts ruled to allow gay marriages in California because it was decided the California Constitution was being violated when gay couples were not allowed to be married. But now, due to mainly the part of a petition the decision may be overruled with just a majority vote.
Now despite what the argument is, if the courts and the constitution of the area are up against the people, who deserves to win? I would like to believe the courts, after all, as was said in Men In Black, a person is smart, but people are stupid. Now, this may or may not pass. But if it does, big controversy will arise...more than already has...about whether or not this is right. I'm sure in the law it says that this series of events its completely lawful and this is the way it is to be done. But somehow I feel that this vote should not be put on any ballot, simply because its the government versus a mob. And the mob shouldn't win.

Even the greatest civilizations need strong leaders. Leaders who know whats best for the people, even if the people do not know it.

Just as the separation of black and white, Christian and Muslim, by design, a war is being wagged to cause more division amongst the people.

I am not an opponent of same sex relationships of any type, however, have not the heart to hate, nor wish ill of another's right to decide correct or non-correct for himself.

However, where I would draw a line is when there are children involved. As I would first encourage, what by nature is considered natural, then allow the adult to choose.

Four Un-elected judges should not be allowed to tell the people what is good for them and what is not. If you want to be told what you should believe then you just need to move to a communist nation. This is how a Democracy works. The people have the chance to have their say.

What happened to this being a government "of the people, for the people and by the people"? It is my understanding that the judges ruling 4-3 overturned a majority vote of the people. The way our government works really gets me riled up. That's why I don't like politics! It seems any time a moral issue arises, the government sides on the side of immorality which doesn't speak very well for our nation.
